Lesson 2
"My God, it's full of stars"
Here's a quick tip on how to make a decent looking starfield in Photoshop. If you've got Photoshop 4, you can download this Action file, and at the touch of a button, you get an 800x600 starfield.
If you don't have Photoshop 4, you can follow this tutorial:
1. Make a new image, twice as big as the starfield you need. It should be all black.
2. Go to Filters/Pixelate/Mezzotint, and choose Medium Dots.
3. Then go to Filters/Noise/Median and pick a radius of one pixel.
4. Go to Image/Image Size and decrease the image to the final size you want.
5. Go to Image/Adjust/Brightness-Contrast and set the Brightness to -20.
And that should do it.
You can tweak the Brightness and Contrast some more if you'd like.
